Hi there,
Just a quick note to let you know that Northern Irish metal merchants, Fireland,
have released their self-titled debut album and as a member of the metal press,
you are invited to view the online press pack at http://www.fireland.tv/presspack2/
You'll be able to download all the tracks from the album in MP3 format, get
hi-res versions of artwork and photographs, as well as read a brief introduction
telling you about the band and album. Please feel free to play any of the tracks
on your radio station!
If you remember Riff Master General, who had success with the single "We Like
That" a few years back, you'll instantly feel at home with the riff-based,
powerful and melodic metal style - Andy Baxter (vocals) and Steve Moore
(guitar), both previously members of RMG, are in Fireland. The lineup is
completed by Jamie Johnston (guitar), Jim Seymour (bass) and Chris Mawhinney
(drums).
With influences ranging from Annihilator to the Scorpions, Black Sabbath to Black Label Society, Iced Earth to Molly Hatchet, there's sure to be something to get everyone's head banging and fist in the air!
If you wish to receive a hard copy of the album and press pack, drop us an email to info@fireland.tv

Dendura Joins Unexpect and Shadowside at the Flight of the Valkyries Festival

Dendura (USA), the Egyptian-inspired, female-fronted progressive band with belly dancers, will join co-headliners Unexpect (Canada) and Shadowside (Brazil) for the second-annual Flight of the Valkyries festival at Station 4 in St. Paul, MN, on Saturday June 28. Flight of the Valkyries is the only festival in the USA to feature a complete lineup of female-fronted metal bands.
“I am really pumped about the festival,” says Dendura drummer Justin Lee Dixon. “Exposing your sound and style to a whole new group of people is always exciting and, being that all the bands are female fronted, we are all happy to be a part of an event that is bringing together this ever-growing genre of music. But what I anticipate the most is sharing the stage with many talented musicians.
Belly dancer Abida Blaze, who is known for her exotic, mysterious moves, will join Dendura onstage at the festival.
This year, the festival headliners bring a big dose of metal from Canada and Brazil. Unexpect recently toured with Epica, Echoes of Eternity and Trail of Tears. Shadowside is a rising star in the Brazilian metal scene.
Minnesota-based artists Something to Fear and Aria Sharp have also been announced and additional bands will be confirmed in the coming months.
Flight of the Valkyries is the only music festival of its kind in the USA that is devoted to metal bands with female lead vocalists. The festival showcases all metal sub-genres. The festival debuted in 2007 and showcased a variety of female-fronted metal bands including Doro, Vainglory, Earthen, The Ottoman Empire, Visideon, Spiritual Decay and Sirens of Titan.
Meanwhile, 2008 is already turning into a big year for Dendura. The band recently signed with KillZone Records, scored distribution with Nightmare Records and they’re discussing their next album with a Grammy-winning producer. In addition, they played high-profile concerts including a show with Edguy (who did some 2007 dates in Germany with Aerosmith) and they have a track on the US ProgPower 2007 compilation given to everyone who attended the sold-out, national festival in Atlanta starring After Forever and Sonata Arctica.
For more information about Dendura, and to listen to songs, visit www.myspace.com/denduraband. For ticket information and details about Flight of the Valkyries, visit www.femalemetalfest.com.

I would really like to thank everyone that helped Outworld and stuck by us in
all the difficult challenges we faced this past year, especially Bobby
Williamson. Thanks to all the street teams, everyone that worked for our
merchandise stands, all the people that voted for us in the Famecast contest,
all the magazines that helped us, everybody that voted for Carlos Zema as the
best singer of 2007 in the Roadie Crew magazine (placing me in the top 10 best
singers of last year!)- thank you all very, very much! I would like also to
thank everyone from KWTF and all the specialized media. You always stood by our
side! Please forgive me if I´m not mentioning anyone in particular that always
supported us. You are appreciated!
I really think that it is time to explain the reason why I decided to not be a
part of Outworld any longer. I had to leave my entire personal life, business,
properties, and students in Brazil when I recieved the invitation to be a part
of this awesome project. So, I made the decision to come here to the USA and
start a new life from point zero. My personal family issues contributed, but
actually were not the main reason I decided to leave the band. Above all, let me
say that the band had excellent musicians on this last line up: Rusty Cooley,
Matt Smith, Shawn Kascak and Bobby Williamson! It was definitely a great honor
for me to play with these guys! Now, the reasons why I left.
First reason:
During this period of time together, the band was heading in two different
stylistic directions, dividing the band in two distinct segments. Rusty, Shawn
and Matt started wanting something in more of a Meshuggah sort of style, another
guitarist, and a different type of vocals. Bobby and I started having a hard
time fitting in vocal melodies and keyboard arrangements. So when Bobby left the
band, I decided that my efforts and vocals would be worth more elsewhere.
Second reason:
At the beginning of this year we began all the negotiations for a very
opportunistic tour in South America, which was supposed to happen in the second
half of 2008 (since all the promoters usually schedule at least 4 or 5 months in
advance). But we had some disagreement issues with costly fees being requested
for this tour between the members of the band. This drove the band to the point
that there was no way to make "The first ever tour of the band" happen. In other
words, it wasn´t possible to continue in this fashion. My priority now is to
start working with a band, record a badass album, and go on tour soon with no
overcharged fees and contradictions with the musical direction. A great
opportunity knocked on my door when I met Mr. David Shankle (guitarist formerly
of Manowar). Now we are starting the writing process with his band, DSG, and
getting ready for a tour as soon as possible. And I´m jamming out already and
working with my great friends from Coldera. That´s pretty much metal as usual.
So I will see you guys on the road! I promise we´ll hang out, have fun, and jam
together as long as I live!
Z.

Texas-based band OUTWORLD is searching for a new
label to release its sophomore album. Three new tracks, along with an
interview, are available on the group's MySpace
page.
OUTWORLD features new leather-lunged vocalist Carlos Zema and a
superb new drummer, Matt McKenna, both of whom are featured on the
three new tracks, along with Rusty Cooley (guitar), Bobby Williamson
(keyboards), and Shawn Kascak (bass).
In late 2006, OUTWORLD released its self-titled debut on France's Replica
Records to both critical and artist acclaim.
The band has been heralded as a blend of key influences PANTERA, SYMPHONY
X, LAMB OF GOD, and DREAM THEATER, but with a sound all its
own.
